Biblical Dinosaurs or Dragons of Lore?

An academic circumspection:

Is there truth in this story?

By: David Freed 12/20/2006

During the exploration of Noah's sleigh ride of Whole Earth Decompression Dynamics and Expanding Earth Theory, the dinosaur fossil record was discussed in relation to our primordial protoplanet planetoid Pangia.

Anthropologist and paleontologist have depended on Pangia's massive land bridges to help explain why so may similar dinosaurs fossils were found throughout the world. Hemispheric migrations could have disseminated many species throughout the world ( Some of the newer fossil finds have even been classified by their apparent migratory path, such as the Austral-Asian Dinosaurs discovered in the 1980s ( Even the Illinois State Geological Survey considered the continental migration of the Brachiosauri, because fossil remains are found in the Western U.S., Tanzania, and Portugal (

A few paleontologist have written about the flight characteristics of dinosaur style soar-a-pods, like the pterosaurs, pterodactyls, and pteranodons. Many have concluded that these heavy creatures could have only flown, with their 40 to 50 foot wingspans, if the atmospheric density was greater. Also at home in this thicker atmosphere, would be the fossilized dragonflies with their 32 inch wingspans (

If the dinosaurs were living on Planetoid Pangia, then vegetation had already been firmly established. Creationist have much literature concerning the greenhouse effect of the Vapor Canopy Theory (Dillow, Joseph, C., The Waters Above, 1982, The Moody Bible Institute.) An amplified greenhouse effect would not only have caused the atmosphere to be warmer, but would have tended to create a uniform temperature distribution from the equator to the poles (( Evidence of 90 foot plum trees were found in the New Siberian Islands and scientists have found tropical forest and coal deposits in Antarctica ( In fact there is even speculation that the coal deposits of today are merely remnants of the original predeluvian biomass (

Predeluvian ecosystem

Just imagine your self back in the days of dinosaurs. This predeluvian ecosystem was a very different place indeed and predeluvian life consisted of many different creatures and species that we have deemed long extinct. Since childhood, my vision of the dinosaur era as a tropical forest filled with wild and unusual vegetation. Completely different plant and animal species than exist today. Many of them dangerous and deadly, some of them stalking the midst of the predeluvian swamp, and absolutely none of them suitable as house pets.

Regardless if you are a Creationist, or an Evolutionist, this predeluvian ecosystem must be addressed. Look at the extremes from these view points. If you have a Six Days of Creation view point then this era has to be squeezed some place late Day Five through Day Six. If you are from the view point that it all happened over millions and millions of evolutionary years, there is extreme flexibility as to time. However -----

I Ponder this:

given fact # three in our original quest, that time is not linear,

who is to say what time periods passed.

What are our limitations in measuring time in the past. Einstein has shown us that time, and therefore gravity and radioactive decay, are relative to the observer. So carbon dating techniques become suspect. Just look back on your own childhood, time is hard to measure. As I age, I am amazed at how much more quickly time passes. Yet things that happened twenty tears ago, seem just like yesterday. Time is truly relative to the observer or. If you don't believe that, just sit there quietly for eight hours, as I sleep. For me it will only be a moment, but for you, it may feel a bit longer than just eight hours.

Incremental creation

Just how tight do we hold our views of Biblical Creation? When God performed his creative day, did it all happen at once; or did some things happen after breakfast, and a few more after lunch, then Dinner and evening, and so on? Incremental creation allows God to perform His creative miracles in a progressive manor that is later rediscovered by man. However, in an attempt to leave God out of the picture, this progressive manner is misunderstood as evolution. The dinosaurs could have had their day in the morning and man came along in late afternoon. The question becomes whether the time is fluid enough to allow man and dinosaur to co-exist.

Man and dinosaurs

Could there possibly be fossil evidence that man and dinosaurs co-existed. Dinosaurs were suppose to be long extinct before man ever came along. Yet, near Glen Rose Texas, there is a famous fossil bed that suggest that otherwise. Taylor Trail is a series of 14 human footprints with at least 134 dinosaur tracks. There are several sets of footprints of both man and dinosaur found in the same area. Some of the footprint actually cross each others trail and the Morris Track, found by John Morris, is a human print inside of a dinosaur track.( The Ica Stones, found in Peru contain etched pictures of accurately drawn dinosaurs. ( Inca burial stones in Peru depict Triceratops, stegosaurs, and pterosaurs that were first uncover by a Spanish Priest in 1525. ( Even the Bible seem to suggest that man and coexisted, "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you.... " Job 40:15

Were there dinosaurs on the ark

Every Sunday School teacher throughout the last hundred years have had to deal with this very question. Only the innocence of youth would Ponder how many Huge-a-saurese it would take to capsize the ark. The Bible clearly states that the Lord has finished his creative efforts and all life, plant, animal, or man are here at the time of the flood. However, the donosaurs may have been already exctinct and I ponder how these brutes would have survived decompression. Although, there is another interesting possibly correlative event with the Flood of Noah.

The iridium layer

Theory has it that the dinosaurs were all exterminated by the hugh meteor impact 65 millions years ago, somewhere in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. One of the scientific evidences that supports this impact theory is the unusual iridium layer. Archeologist have discovered this thin layer of iridium that seems to be consistent throughout the world. Iridium is not naturally occurring here on earth, therefore, it could have only have come here from space. Up until now mankind has only had one mechanism for space stuff coming to earth - a meteor must have impacted here and deposited this space born marker.

The impact had to be large enough to spread the iridium all over the planet and the dinosaurs all died from this same impact. The correlation to the extrication of the dinosaurs is unmistakable, because above this iridium layer there is absolutely no fossil evidence of dinosaurs. However, now with Whole Earth Decompression Dynamics and Expanding Earth Theory there may be another mechanism to deposit this space stuff evenly all over the earth. Could this iridium been apart of our protoplanet upper atmosphere and then brought down, in the rain of when, "...the floodgates of the heavens were opened."

Biblical Dinosaurs

Job 40:15 "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox."

Job 40:16 "What strength he has in his loins, what power in his muscles of his belly."

Job 40:17 "His tail sways like a ceder; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit."

Job 40:18 "His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron."

Job 40:19 "He ranks first among the works of God..."

You can Ponder your own conclusions if scripture is referring to a dinosaur or not. The description surly fits the profile. Although, the Behemoth was made right along man and it was a vegetarian as all creature were suppose to be prior to the flood; and since we are only Pondering, perhaps the meat eating Predators species were one of the very first corruptions of God's creation by the Fallen Angels, or other outside forces.

Biblical Dragons

Job 41:1 "Can you pull in the leviathan with a fishhook or tie down his tongue with a rope?"

Job 41:2 "Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?"

Job 41:3 "Will he keep begging you for mercy? Will he speak to you with gentile words?"

Job 41:4 "Will he make an agreement with you for you to take him as your slave for life?"

Job 42:5 "Can you make a pet of him like a bird or put him on a leash for your girls?"

Job 41:6 "Will traders barter for him? Will they divide him up among the merchants?"

Job 41:7 "Can you fill his side with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?"

Job 41:8 "If you lay a hand on him you will remember the struggle and never do it again!"

Job 41:31 "He makes the depths churn like a bubbling caldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of

Job 41:9 "Any hope of subduing him is false; the mere sight of him is overpowering."

Job 41:10 "No one is fierce enough to rouse him. ..."

Job 41:12 "I will not fail to speak of his limbs, his strength and his graceful form."

Job 41:13 " Who can strip off his outer coat? Who would approach him with a bridle?"

Job 41:14 "Who dares to open the doors of his mouth, ringed with his fearsome teeth?"

Job 41:15 "His back has rows of shields tightly sealed together;"

Job 41:16 "each so close to the next that no air can pass between."

Job 41:17 "They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted."

Job 41:18 "His snorting throws out flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of dawn."

Job 41:19 "Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out."

Job 41:20 "Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds."

Job 41:21 "His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth."

Job 41:22 " Strength resides in his neck; dismay goes before him."

Job 41:23 "The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable."

Job 41:24 "His chest is hard as a rock, hard as lower millstone."

Job 41:25 "When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing."

Job 41:26 "The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin."

Job 41:27 "Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood."

Job 41:28 "Arrows do not make him flee; slingstones are like chaff to him."

Job 41:29 "A club seems to him but a piece of straw; he laughs at the rattling of the lance."

Job 41:30 "His undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge."

Job 41:32 "Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair."

Job 41:33 "Nothing on earth is his equal - a creature without fear."

Just what type of creature is Job describing here in chapter 41? Is it not a fire breathing, scalely, sea monster? Isn't it close enough to a description of a mythical dragon to be considered? Too bad that the Bible doesn't mention wings or the ability to fly. Although, remember that any one perspective never tells the entire whole story.

Cultural heritage

Reflecting back upon our detective skills we have to admit that if one persons sees something it is interesting. However, if two or more begin to witness to the same phenomena - it begins to have creditability. Scanning the cultural heritages of many of our older cultures it becomes obvious that Dragon Lore is second only to the flood story in popularity and frequency.

Although the time that dragons first appeared in myths and legends is not know for sure, but their histories date back thousands of years. Dragons of folklore lived almost anywhere, depending on the type of dragon. Their habitats range from the center of the earth to the middle of the ocean.

Chinese, Japanese, and Korean folklore is filled with dragon tails. Many dragons of these legends are benevolent and protective of man. Osiris and Set, of Egyptian Mythology, both had dragon like attributes and powers. The Egyptians also gave rise to a dragon-serpent-worshiping cult that faded away with the advent of Christianity. ( The dragon lore of Catholic controlled Europe paints a more sinister beast that Saints and heroes went out to sleigh.

The memoirs of Noah

I Ponder the reality of Noah living for another 350 years after the flood. Just how many grandchildren would he have had over all those years? Wouldn't Noah be revered as the grandfather of all life on planet earth? Just imagine all those grandfatherly stories that were told of the days before the flood. Once these stories were retold by the generations, wouldn't they become the multi-cultural heritage link to our predeluvian past?

Remembering back to the days when Enoch walked with God, back in the days when Methuselah lived to be the oldest and wisest man on the planet, and a firmament covered the earth. There was no rain in those days, but the waters sprang from the ground up to water the whole planet, and forming four major worldwide river systems. Higher created beings, Fallen Angels, came to earth's surface and corrupted creation by both genetically interfering with man, and instilling wickedness. How would higher created beings act if they were in our reality? They would be immortal, use to live in heaven and know the truth of our reality, possessing an amazing knowledge base, and possibly possessing powers or abilities beyond mans capabilities, creatures Arrogant enough to rise up against God Himself. Wouldn't they pass themselves off as gods to us? Evidently we could not stop them from experimenting on us as a species. Having children with mortal women that became heroes and men of renown. Isn't this the Hercules story? Didn't Zeus have his way with a mortal woman and Hercules was born and became both a hero and a man of renown. Perhaps the gods of the Greeks and Romans have a place in history after all.

Then there is Methuselah, the oldest and wisest man that ever lived on planet earth. A man that died when is was an amazing 969 years old. I know that Hollywood has us all thinking that everyone from this time period is just a simple desert dweller with nothing but a sheep and a camel, but it is hard for me to picture Methuselah this way at all. After 900 years, or so, don't you think that he had indoor plumbing? It was Methuselah's father, Enoch, that went into heaven as God's guest. I am sure he returned with many secrets of the universe, and other heavenly knowledge. We know that some of the earth's population during those days had superior knowledge, because they came here from the heavens. They at least had enough knowledge and technology to perform genetic experiments on man. This doesn't sound like a primitive society at all. Yet, this advanced civilization sank beneath the ocean. Remind you of any other Greek story of old? Perhaps of a technologically advanced cavitation that sank beneath the ocean as told by Plato, named Atlantis.

Is there not enough room in our cosmologies to allow enough time for a Middle Earth era. A time after the dinosaur, and perhaps before the flood, when dragons and man fought against the dark evil Lords that want to destroy and consume mankind. The dark evil Lords that wish to corrupt creation and rule over man in terror.
